Tanaka has hit a breaking point.
His life-long obsession with younger girls, both in reality and the 2D realm, has to end. He is filled with internal agony. Tanaka's love life, marked by 108 failed confessions, has left him painfully unfulfilled.
"I have to change," he thinks, "Otherwise, I'll never find happiness. I need a wife, a family...or I risk dying of a cold, lonely heart."
So, he leaves behind his former preferences, determined to find a wife. This leads him to Enomiya Mai, a woman whose understanding heart seems designed to heal his myriad of sorrows.
"Why does she understand me so well? Perhaps, with her, I can become a 'proper man.' A respected husband and father, free from ridicule..."
Despite this, he finds himself conflicted. Mai is sweet and attractive, yet she doesn't stir any sexual arousal within him. Can he proceed with marrying her under such circumstances? Tanaka gathers his courage, ready to confront this reality.
"I've left my past behind. I am no longer who I used to be. I can do it...I must do it." With this resolve, he takes Mai as his wife.
However, fate cruelly dangled the forbidden fruit before Tanaka: Mai has two adorable daughters.
